I feel so seen by this. I also go through this every once in a while because I like to keep my clothes for as long as possible but then I panic that I might have missed a memo and I'm suddenly uncool. God forbid I'm one of those people that still cling to their skinny jeans (/s). Like you, I've also found the cure for my latest crisis this weekend on a short trip to Italy. I went to Shop the Story (thank you a million times for the recommendation!) and Alessia is not only stylish but also such a wonderful, vibrant person. Having somebody to echo your enthusiasm for a cut, a fabric, a collection---you're right, you just can't get that from your average sponsored post. And it's ironic, because even though the algorithm is supposed to offer us the feeling that we're part of something bigger than ourselves, part of the zeitgeist, it actually gives us nothing of substance in return, only more stuff to buy.
Alessia mentioned you went by and that makes me so happy! I really love how much she loves what she does, and that kind of passion is so lacking in what the algorithm serves us with
Thank you for sharing and writing this. Your outfits look great, not old and boring at all! One thing I usually do when I’m at the stage of feeling bored with my clothes is to run through past fashion shows for styling insights, it does help!
Loved reading this. Thank you. I was in NYC a few weeks ago and, honestly, the only women (and men) worth looking at, in terms of style, were the older ones. Individualistic, informed by something inside themselves.
really enjoyed this piece. The wardrobe insecurity seems to be as recurring and eternal for me as the trend cycles lol. Will return to this next time I'm in a slump.
God, I love this piece. When I went to Paris, I had a similar takeaway. The women are chic and wear -- and eat -- whatever they want. God damn. Learning a thing or two from these everyday icons.
Fantastic story! What better place than Italy to go to forget trends. I've always admired the Milanese Señoras for timeless, personal style. Inspiration over algorithms! Love your style by the way, anything but boring and old.
This was a great read, and I appreciate your vulnerability in sharing your insecurity. I’ve been going through waves of feeling confident and then being wracked with inadequacy after looking at all the (very much the same) outfits online.
I’ve gotta just say, “fuck it” and wear what feels like me!💕
Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your thoughts. I can certainly relate to the cycle of feeling insecure in the face of the exhausting trend cycle and then of regaining your confidence in your own true and asynchronous expression of style. When you think about it, it’s kind of creepy and robotic being a on-trend all the time? As if you only think of style in terms of what’s dictated by others vs what you really think/feel.

“Terminally online” you nailed it! (The irony of this resonating while I read it online is not lost on me)
Great piece!

PS I adore your outfits!
